DIY Nail Whitening

One of the reasons always kept toe nails painted is they look frigging ugly without colors. Well, they’re yellowish, thanks to the extended time I’ve painted them with dark nail polishes. If you frequently paint nails and you love your dark polishes, you may have yellow nails due to staining. This is an equally common and irritating dilemma.
The first thing you’ll need is a lemon. This alone may do the trick. How? Cut it in half (or smaller, if you prefer) and rub the lemon directly on your nails for about 3-5 minutes. You should notice a whitening effect almost instantly! Depending on the severity of your staining, this may be all you need. However, if your nails aren’t as white as you’d like, use this method once daily for about 2-3 days and you should see significant improvement.
Another method involves the addition of baking soda; another common ingredient found in ones kitchen. This method is a brushing method and some find it is more effective.

Mix some lemon juice (freshly squeezed or from the bottle) and baking soda, bit by bit, till you have an abrasive paste. Use an old toothbrush or nail brush and brush the paste on your nails. I don’t recommend doing this daily or often as the abrasiveness causes your nails to become rough. Considering this method is more effective, you shouldn’t need to do it as frequently anyway.

I supposed there are other methods to whiten our nails naturally but I found this the easiest since I already have the lemon and baking soda, which are also items that are easy to obtain from the supermarket. Plus the citric acid in the lemon juice has anti-bacterial effects!
Well, there you have it! Two DIY recipes on how to whiten your "nails"! Lemons are a great beauty aid and are in several DIY recipes from homemade lip scrubs to face masks and bath gels. They’re extremely affordable and easily accessible – just swing by your local grocery store! I hope you’ll try it out!
